Nokia, BSNL To Rollout 4G, VoLTE Services In India

In 2017, Nokia and BSNL signed a MoU to explore and develop 5G applications for the Indian market.

Nokia and BSNL signed a network modernization agreement to support the launch of 4G and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services of BSNL in the western and southern regions of India, according to an official.

Nokia will deploy technology in 10 telecommunication circles in India: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana. Serving large cities, businesses, technology and tourist centers in addition to almost 38 million subscribers of BSNL, an official statement said here.

“The hunger for constant change and innovation provides fuel to boost excellence. With this in our core, we strive to offer the best speed, coverage and capacity in the class network using the best available technology,” said Anupam Shrivastava, President and General Director of BSNL.

The statement said that the implementation of Nokia’s sole-access network software (RAN) would simplify network installation, allowing BSNL to save operating costs while supporting 2G, 3G and 4G subscribers in a single radio unit. The new VoLTE services would allow subscribers of 4G BSNL to experience high-speed and high-speed voice connections.
